Just as students and staff at Wildwood City High School were preparing to return after two weather-related closure days, an early morning fire forced the school to close again on Wednesday.
According to fire officials, crews from Wildwood and North Wildwood responded to an activated fire alarm at approximately 5 a.m. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which was contained to a single classroom.

The school had planned a two-hour delayed opening, but administrators ultimately cancelled classes due to the incident. Authorities said the fire originated in an HVAC unit located inside the classroom.
