Egg Harbor Township, N.J. - Did you hear that? South Jersey residents flooded social media Tuesday afternoon with reports of a loud explosion and a fast-moving object streaking across the sky, believed to have been a meteor.
Around 2:30 p.m., reports began pouring into the American Meteor Society, which received dozens of submissions from across New Jersey this afternoon. Witnesses described seeing a bridge object streak across the sky, with some also reporting a loud boom that sparked speculation online.

Facebook posts from residents across Camden, Gloucester, Atlantic, Cumberland, and Cape May counties added to the growing number of eyewitness reports. Many said they heard a loud boom, questioning if it was military aircraft or a car accident.
At this time, there has been no official confirmation of the meteor by the American Meteor Society.
