Egg Harbor Township, N.J. - After an anxious search that lasted over 24 hours, Joel Medina, a missing Egg Harbor teenager with special needs, was located and reunited with his family early this morning.


The Egg Harbor Police Department first released a statement on Friday, March 20th, seeking the public’s assistance in locating Joel after he was reported missing.

After nearly 36 hours from the original post, on early Sunday, South Jersey residents woke up to great news. Police reported they found Joel Medina safe at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22nd. Joel was reunited with his family and the Egg Harbor Police Department will be releasing a longer statement about the incident soon.

Police thanked residents who helped spread the word across social media over the weekend.
